The Color Caravan is a creative social venture in the Indian Himalayas that supports traditional artisan communities, sustains indigenous craft skills, and empowers rural women. They specialize in handknit and crocheted clothing, accessories, housewares, and toys. Artisans are able to work from home, which enables women to earn additional income while managing their domestic and social responsibilities. The Color Caravan upcycles waste fabrics, works with natural dyes, and prioritizes natural materials like wool, cotton, and jute when possible. In 2018, they started a creative learning and cultural initiative called Kala Jamghat that uses theater, storytelling, art, craft, nature, and music to teach life skills and social awareness to young people in the village of Naggar. The founder of The Color Caravan serves as a mentor and volunteer for multiple social initiatives and craft enterprises and facilitates cultural immersive experiences focusing on indigenous crafts, food, and forest healing. The Color Caravan is part of Flourish and Creative Dignity.
