Namugongo Good Samaritan Organization empowers impoverished women and girls in Uganda with emotional, social, and vocational skills to become entrepreneurs, positive role models, and leaders who meaningfully contribute to their families and community. They work with groups of women to plant and conserve Nilotica shea trees, cultivate turmeric, soya, and other crops with no synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and create handmade housewares and accessories from banana fiber and recycled paper beads. Namugongo provides HIV and AIDS counseling and community training on entrepreneurship and sexual and reproductive health. They are registered as a not-for-profit organization and participate in the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association, AGOA Association of Uganda, Nakasero 3 Women Grain Millers Cooperative Society, Acholi Shea Butter Association, and Uganda Manufacturers Association.
