They purchase used computers, phones, servers, and other hardware from large businesses and institutions, safely delete the data, and thoroughly test, clean, refurbish, and upgrade the equipment for remarketing. Devices that are no longer marketable are professionally dismantled in-house and handed over to certified recycling companies in Europe to recover the raw materials. By extending the product life cycle, AfB conserves natural resources, contributes to a circular economy, and reduces emissions. Refurbished products are available online and through more than 20 locations in Germany, Austria, France, Slovakia, and Switzerland. All facilities and processes are barrier-free because half of the workforce has disabilities, and people with and without disabilities work hand in hand. AfB is registered as a gemeinnützige GmbH, a not-for-profit company. KEP Textile Atelier

KEP Textile Atelier manufactures clothing under the highest ethical and environmental standards and creates stable employment for disadvantaged women in Turkey. They offer a range of services for ethical fashion brands and other collaborators, including market research, design, material sourcing, pattern making, sampling, production, quality control, and packing. KEP Textile Atelier uses GOTS-certified textiles, deadstock or waste fabrics, and other environmentally responsible materials. Patterns are cut to minimize waste, and scraps are either composted or upcycled into new designs. Their production facility collects rainwater for ironing and is fully powered by solar panels. GreenHouse17 offers support, counseling, advocacy, shelter, education, and prevention services to end intimate partner abuse and support survivors in 17 central Kentucky counties. They provide crisis intervention and stabilization services from a shelter in rural Fayette County and two satellite offices in their service area. The GreenHouse17 farm surrounds the shelter and provides opportunities for nature-based healing, nutritious field-to-table produce, and job training for survivors. Their services are based on the trauma-informed care model. Adults living in the shelter have the opportunity to participate on the farm, should they choose, in exchange for an hourly stipend. GreenHouse17 offers a community-supported agriculture (CSA) membership for agrichemical-free summer flowers. They also use flowers and herbs from the farm to create their Handmade by Survivors range of soaps, lip balms, bath salts, and soy wax candles. GreenHouse17 is a community-driven and community-supported not-for-profit organization and a member of Social Enterprise Alliance. All surplus is reinvested towards their mission.

OUTsideIN empowers marginalized women in rural West Tennessee through the creation of durable fabric bags and travel gear. They started in 2013 because the largest employer in their county left, taking 2,000 of the best jobs with them. OUTsideIN trains and hires women who have been chronically unemployed due to addiction, incarceration, lack of education, or other barriers to employment. Their travel gear is made in small batches from overrun stock of upholstery-weight fabric that would have otherwise been sent to landfill. They are in the process of developing a residential program for women in recovery with space for six to eight women and their children to live in community and receive counseling, recovery support, and life skills training.
