Reverse Garbage Co-operative was started in 1975 by a group of enterprising teachers who salvaged materials from local factories to reuse in their classrooms and has evolved into Australia’s largest creative reuse and sustainability education center. Their retail warehouse operates seven days per week in Marrickville, Sydney and includes learning spaces, an outdoor terrace, and an edible garden which is open to community use. Reverse Garbage organizes zero waste birthday parties, interactive repair and reuse workshops, and public events to educate individuals, communities, and businesses about the value of conserving resources through waste avoidance, waste minimization, and life-long resource use.
